These are the terms for using Craft and Steward, the blog at https://craftandsteward.com. They cover what you can do with the projects and printables here, what I’m responsible for, and what I’m not.
Most of it comes down to two things. Use the free stuff freely, including in your classroom. Supervise the scissors.
By using the site you’re agreeing to what follows. If you don’t agree with it, the honest answer is that you shouldn’t use the site.
Who These Terms Are For
Craft and Steward is written for adults. The projects are for children, but the instructions, the safety notes, and the buying advice are aimed at whoever is running the activity.
You need to be at least 13 to leave a comment, and if you’re under 18 you should have a parent or guardian’s permission to use the site. Comments that appear to come from children get removed rather than published. There’s more on this in the Privacy Policy.
What You Can Do With The Content
The articles, instructions, original photographs, and original printables on this site belong to me, and copyright in them is reserved.
You’re welcome to:
- Read, print, and use anything here with your own family
- Use the printables and project instructions in a classroom, library, daycare, scout group, church group, or homeschool co op
- Print as many copies as your group needs
- Link to any post from anywhere, including your own blog, without asking first
- Pin an image to Pinterest, as long as the pin links back to the original post
- Share a single photo on social media with a credit and a link
You may not:
- Republish an article, in whole or in substantial part, anywhere else
- Copy the instructions and reword them into your own post
- Sell, license, or rent any printable, or include one in a paid product, bundle, or membership
- Upload printables to a file sharing site, a classroom resource marketplace, or anywhere else people download them from instead of from here
- Strip the branding off a printable, or edit one and present the result as your own
- Scrape the site, in bulk or otherwise, including for training machine learning models
- Use the content commercially in any other way without written permission
If you want to feature a project, use one photo, write your own short description, and link to the post. That’s always fine and you never need to email me about it. Reposting the full instructions is not fine, even with a credit, because then there’s no reason for anyone to visit the original.
Requests outside all of this are genuinely welcome. Email me and the answer is usually yes.
About The Printables
The coloring pages and activity sheets are free because they’re meant to be used. No account, no email address, no form. Print them, photocopy them for a class of thirty, send them home in book bags.
The only line is commercial use. Don’t sell them, don’t bundle them into something you sell, and don’t upload the files somewhere else. Teachers in particular ask about this a lot, so to be clear: printing them for your students is exactly what they’re for, and it needs no permission from me.
Comments
Comments are moderated but not pre screened one by one, so an opinion sitting under a post is that person’s opinion and not mine.
By leaving a comment you confirm it’s your own work, or that you have the right to post it, and you give me permission to display and edit it on the site.
Comments get removed when they are spam, promotional, abusive, off topic, unlawful, infringe someone’s copyright, or include identifying information about a child. I don’t have to explain a removal and I’m not going to argue about one.
Safety, Which Is The Part That Matters
Everything on this site is shared for general information and inspiration. It is not professional advice of any kind.
Craft projects involve materials that are not safe for every age. Scissors, hot glue, craft knives, wire, beads and other small parts, string and ribbon, balloons, magnets, button batteries, paint, and anything involving water, heat, or food all carry risks that vary with the child. The age ranges given in posts are a starting point based on what typically works, not an assessment of your child.
You are responsible for deciding what is safe for the children in your care. Read a project all the way through before you start it. Check that materials are non toxic and age appropriate. Check labels and ingredients against any allergies before doing anything with food, and remember that food based sensory play is not suitable for children who still put things in their mouths. Supervise throughout. If you have any doubt about an activity, don’t do it.
I am not responsible for injury, allergic reaction, illness, property damage, or anything else arising from a project on this site. That responsibility sits with the supervising adult, which is the only place it reasonably can sit.
Accuracy And Results
I work to keep posts accurate and I correct things when they’re wrong. Even so, projects turn out differently depending on the child, the materials, the brand of glue, and how closely the steps are followed. Products get discontinued and prices change.
Nothing here is a guarantee that a project will work, look like the photo, or take as long as the post says.
Advertising And Affiliate Links
The site is free to read because advertising and affiliate commissions pay for it. Posts containing affiliate links say so near the top, before any recommendation. Buying through one of those links costs you nothing extra.
Ads are served by third party networks, including Google, and I don’t choose or endorse the individual ads that appear. If an ad is broken, misleading, or inappropriate, tell me what it was and roughly where it appeared and I’ll report it. How advertising cookies work, and how to turn off personalized ads, is covered in the Privacy Policy and the Affiliate Disclosure.
Links To Other Sites
Posts link out to supply sources, tutorials, and references. Those sites have their own terms and their own privacy practices, and I have no control over what they publish or how they handle your data. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the other end of it.
If You Think Something Here Infringes Your Copyright
Tell me and I’ll deal with it. Email admin@craftandsteward.com with the page URL, a description of the work you believe has been used, proof that it’s yours, and your contact details. Material that turns out to be infringing gets removed, usually the same day.
I’d rather hear from you directly than through a takedown notice, but the formal route is set out on the DMCA page.
What I’m Not Liable For
To the fullest extent the law allows, I’m not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or the content on it. That includes injury or damage connected to a project, errors or omissions in a post, outcomes that disappoint, problems with a product bought through an affiliate link, anything that happens on a site you reached from a link here, and the site being slow, broken, or offline.
You use this site and everything on it at your own risk.
If you use the content in a way these terms don’t allow and that causes a problem for me, that’s on you, and you agree to cover the costs that come with it.
Access
I can restrict or block access to the site, or remove content, at any time and without notice. In practice this is only ever used against scrapers, spammers, and abuse.
Changes To These Terms
These terms get updated when the site changes, and the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the site afterward means you accept the current version. Substantive changes will be noted here rather than made quietly.
The Legal Bits
These terms are governed by the laws of [Your Country], and any dispute goes to the courts there.
If a court decides one part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still stands. Not enforcing something immediately doesn’t mean giving up the right to enforce it later.
Together with the Privacy Policy, the Affiliate Disclosure, and the Disclaimer, this is the whole agreement between us about your use of the site.
